Thalle Industries Optimizes Fishkill Asphalt Plant During Winter Hiatus

  • by

While the winter chill pauses paving projects across the Hudson Valley, Thalle Industries uses the downtime to prepare its Fishkill asphalt plant for a high-demand spring.

The facility is currently undergoing a rigorous winter maintenance program in preparation for its scheduled reopening in late March.

Asphalt production is a high-intensity process that takes a significant toll on machinery. During this seasonal closure, Thalle’s specialized crews perform essential preventive care, including:

  • System Deep-Cleaning: Removing asphalt residue and aggregate buildup from drum mixers and silos.
  • Mechanical Overhauls: Inspecting and replacing worn conveyor belts, bearings, and drag slat floors.
  • Calibration: Fine-tuning burners and electronic sensors to ensure precision for custom blends.

Once the “pothole-filling season” begins, the plant is a critical hub for the region, capable of shipping up to 350 tons of asphalt per hour. Known for its agility, Thalle can load pavement trailers in under three minutes and fulfill same-day emergency orders.

While the asphalt plant remains quiet, the co-located Fishkill quarry continues its normal operations. As an environmentally responsible supplier, Thalle continues to provide high-quality virgin and recycled aggregates to construction partners throughout the winter months.
