$600 Million Road Paving Surge for 2026 Construction Season

  • by

This spring, theNew York State Department of Transportation (NYSDOT) will begin a $600 million initiative on more than 180 projects to repave over 2,100 lane miles of roadway across every region of the Empire State.

In the Mid-Hudson region alone, more than $121 million is earmarked for critical stretches of highway, including:

  • $33.6 Million for Interstate 287; Resurfacing from Westchester Ave to Route 119 (Greenburgh, Harrison, Elmsford, White Plains)
  • $19.2 Million for Route 9A; Resurfacing from Belmont Rd to North State Rd (Ossining, Mt. Pleasant, Briarcliff Manor)
  • $4.7 Million for Route 32; Resurfacing from Route 300 to the Ulster County line (Town of Newburgh)

The 2026 projects will use warm-mix fiber-reinforced asphalt, a more durable material designed to resist cracking and withstand New York’s harsh winter-thaw cycles.

To minimize disruptions, the NYSDOT plans to conduct most high-volume work during nighttime hours with single-lane closures.
