First Annual Golf Outing Scores Big for Cortlandt Engine Company

  • by

The Cortlandt Engine Company, an all-volunteer fire department serving the Montrose area, held its inaugural annual golf outing on September 29 at the scenic West Point Golf Course, drawing a fantastic turnout and raising essential funds for the department.

The event attracted 110 participants who came out to support the vital work of the Montrose-based company. The outing proved to be a significant success, raising approximately $5,000. These proceeds are earmarked for maintaining the engine company’s gear and providing crucial support for its dedicated volunteers.

Thalle Industries was a key contributor to the event’s financial success with a $1,500 donation. This generous contribution highlights the company’s strong commitment to the communities where it operates, a commitment further reinforced by the presence of Thalle Industries’ Dakota Concrete plant in Montrose.

The Cortlandt Engine Company operates in the 12-square-mile Montrose Fire District, which encompasses the Hamlet of Montrose and parts of the Town of Cortlandt. Operating 12 pieces of equipment out of a single station, the all-volunteer department is responsible for a diverse area.

The district is primarily residential with some light industry, but its coverage also includes several critical sites: three nursing home centers, one apartment complex, two schools, and major transportation infrastructure such as parts of the Hudson River, U.S. Route 9, and the Metro-North Railroad.

The success of the first annual golf outing ensures that these volunteers will have better resources to continue protecting the residents and properties within their unique and geographically diverse district.
